Report from the ChairpersonApril 20, 2005: Cooperation with Community Services On behalf of EINS, it is with great delight that I inform you of the newly formed working group with the Department of Community Services. This working group is an exciting step forward for Early Intervention in the province. The working group will be comprised of five members elected through EINS, as well as Departmental staff. Our five representatives are: Martin MacDonald (Antigonish) and Velda Walsh (Queens) are both board representatives, while Valerie Donovan (Glace Bay) and Tricia Morse (Halifax) are Executive Directors of Early Intervention Programs. I will be the representative from EINS. The briefing document, that is a compilation of the thoughts, needs and vision of the Board Chairs and Executive Directors who met in January, and the others who gave input through email, will be our starting point. It is my hope that we will use the briefing document to guide our discussions as it represents our collaborative vision. Each of us on the committee will need to challenge ourselves to think provincially. We will be the thoughts and words of Early Intervention in Nova Scotia at the upcoming meetings. Yours sincerely, |
