It is our goal that your family will become well informed about your child's developmental disorder, confident in your own ability to help her, committed to caring for her and to advocating for the most appropriate services for her.
We believe that every child is a child of promise. We want to help each child to do his best to lead a productive and happy life in his family, in his community and in his school.
Our services are available to any family who has a child with special needs, if:
- you live in the county of Queens and
- your child is an infant, toddler or preschooler and
- your child has a developmental delay or
- your child is at risk for developmental delay because of a diagnosis or a biological risk.
We offer the following services to families:
- Home visiting. An early interventionist will visit your home to meet you and your child. She has been educated in child development and an understanding of developmental disorders and is trained to design a program that will meet the needs of each child with whom she works.
- Summer Play Group. During the lazy, hazy days of summer, we are busy holding a special Play Group for the children on our caseload. It is a modified program that offers unique social, learning and recreational opportunities as well as support for each child, no matter what his needs.
- Toy and Resource lending library. We have educational toys (but aren't all toys educational?), positioning equipment, books, videos and computer software. All resources are available to families, providing they are well cared for and returned.
- Networking with other families and other professionals. We will work together as a team with you and any other professionals who see your child.
- Support. We believe that a parent has the biggest impact on a child's life. Other caregivers and professionals may come and go, but it is the parents who have the biggest investment in their child ~ love! We will support you in your decisions and in your dreams for your child.
